Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do everything purely client-side so my files never leave my browser? +

Yes! For many use cases, you can use Mammoth.js โ†’ HTML โ†’ pdf-lib/jsPDF and do merge/split with pdf-lib in the browser. This is privacy-friendly but may fail on very complex Word layouts.

If I need perfect Word layout fidelity, what should I use? +

Use a hosted high-fidelity API (Cloudmersive / CloudConvert) or run a self-hosted LibreOffice unoconv service. These options provide better layout preservation but require uploading your files.

What file formats do you support? +

We support DOCX, DOC, and PDF files for conversion. For merging and splitting, we work with PDF files. All processing happens in your browser for privacy.

Are there any file size limits? +

For client-side processing, limits depend on your browser's memory. We recommend files under 50MB for optimal performance. For larger files, you can use our high-fidelity API options.
